Thursday’s Jam of the Day: Bill Frisell (Floratone II)

I recently wrote about the release of Bill Frisell’s gorgeous collaboration with Tucker Martine, Matt Chamberlain, and Lee Townsend and a number of excellent special guests. Honestly this album is full of bad ass jazz wizardry. That’s about all that needs to be said for the amazing Floratone II. Simply put, this  project can be characterized as a true restructuring of free-form guitar and drums. The discussion that you bare witness to are composeed of a vivid color field with whams and kabooms like that of the flash on an old timey camera. The songs on this album are much fuiller than Floratone and the final product leaves the listener intrigued and dazzled by the snapshots of sonic experience that have just taken place.
