Monday’s Jam of the Day: Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti

Today’s hot jam of the day is straight from the bizarre that Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti has made a reputation of producing. “Only in my Dreams” is off the band’s most recent music revival, titled, Mature Themes. All of the songs on Mature Themes are quintessential APHG. The band’s albums are often out there in some strange realm /genre of dream pop on a space  time travel odyssey to 1990-85-74-62. Between the song’s interludes, synth compliments, super fuzzed out lo-fi video, dream-drifting lyrics, and 1960’s folk guitar–you the listener falls into some strange bubble world of strawberries, smiley faces, ecstasy, hi-tops, hair dye, extensions, bubble letters, slap-ons, drug infused lazing around in a park somewhere in New York or Detroit. Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti have carved a niche of sound out for themselves that has a hint of uneasy psychosis that gives the music and unexpected edge.
