Friday’s Things Are Going Off Jam Of The Day: Thao & The Get Down Stay Down

Good news just got better, Thao & The Get Down Stay Down have been working on a new album and well, as usual, they are awesome and this is just great god damn news. Piling up on top of it all, they’ve announced their upcoming tour and it’s coming through NYC with none other than Sallie Ford and The Sound Outside. Both great bands and this tour will definitely go down as one of the most enjoyable shows of the season!!! The upcoming album that will release next week is titled, We The Common and it is exactly the kind of hotness that we have come to expect from Thao and crew. This is the third album to arrive from this talented group and it is a stellar work of beauty and expression

“We The Common (For Valerie Boden)” is politically charged commentary on the California prison system but disguised in a tempting, rooting, salt of the earth folksy jam. This jam is so hot and full of thoughtful opinions about religion, love, life, death, disempowerment, and magnificence. The track is a cool exploration of human rights, herself, and realities, unfortunate as they often are. “Holy Roller” is another hot Thao track on this perfectly thoughtful, inspired, loving, opinionated We The Common album. There is a lot to look forward to in this album. Thao and the very talented Get Down Stay Down are the perfect musical compliments to one another. Lovely percussion, and simple progressions and crescendos make this 21st century folk entirely unique.
